In Direct Live From The Frying Pan - Letter Number 30

Dear B & Readers !
What better to do on a lazy summer Monday afternoon ?
Maybe making pancakes! Me & my friend were making
typical french crepes a few days ago and I woke up at 4
am this morning with a random craving to eat american
style pancakes! I would have made them right then and
there, however, I was fresh-out of eggs =(
So I picked up my mums cookbook and made them later
that afternoon! As they were so delicious, I decided
to share the recipe with you & pictures to illustrate! :D
This recipe serves 12 people but you can just keep the pancakes
till' the next day if you want.!

Here is the cup I used to measure everything, although you can probably pick any!

So you will need :
  • 2 & 1/2 cups of Flour
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 4 teaspoons of baking powder
  • pinch of Salt
  • Two cups of Milk
  • Two beaten eggs
  • 1/3 cup of Vegetable oil
Now I have TWO secret ingredients to make these pancakes,
one is to add CINNAMON powder or add something very
common in pancakes called "Fleur d'oranger" It's a liquid
extract of flower of Orange trees and it's divine, it smells
sweet and orangey and it gives crepes an extra kick! I tested
it on the american pancakes ad it's fabulous!
And of course, maple syrup!

So to begin, put all the Flour, baking powder, salt,
sugar and mix it just to have all the 'dry' ingredients
ready. Then add all the liquids (milk, oil &
beaten eggs) then keep mixing it and gradually it
will turn into a thick lumpy bater. But dont beat it
till' its watery, lumpy is EXACTLY how you want it !

And now the cooking! :D

So, keep it on a fairly LOW flame so as not to burn the pancake.

here is what the batter should look like

place a small dollop of the bater in the center of the pan and don't let it spread too much
So, when should you flip it? Almost immediately after placing the bater on the frying pan. seriously if you leave it too long, it WILL burn! but the second you see little bubbles forming on the top side, even though its still 'wet', flip it. Or this will happen....
But if you flip it 3 to 5 seconds after putting it on the pan, you should get this..
So, one other thing I forgot to mention, was that when you first heat your pan, place a SMALL amount of butter I have a special pancake pan so its not sticky, but you don't have to re-apply butter each time, you can use the same butter for about 3 to 4 pancakes.
Here are a few pic's of the "Fleur d'Oranger" and some of me messing about !

The Mean Reds - Letter Number 29

Hello B & Readers!
Just a quick post on this little white dress I purchased this summer
along with this AMAZING blazer that I "borrowed" from my madre!
I love this shade of red, I have SO many pieces of clothing of this color,
including FOUR scarves! :) Although I was boiling while taking these
photos, I think it can be worn in summer in the evenings when it's a bit
cooler or in an air-conditioned building =p. I'm also going to make a few
more summer outfits posts although its almost fall =( One using this dress, I
have the most PERFECT combination that I wore in Rome but was
un-able to snap a few shots =( So here are a few photos of me messing
about in my house in France! Couldn't get rid of the dogs so they ended
up in some of my photos! Oups!

Lots of end-of-summer Love

And you've got a smile that could light up this whole town... - Letter Number 28

Dear Brunette & Readers,

In tribute to the gorgeous Taylor Swift's lyrics, I found an image to associate to my title = )
I fell in love with this very phrase the second I heard it, playing that passage over and over and over on my speakers until my roommate got tired of it and insisted I change the song!
So here is a little post on a blue Mango dress I bough this summer which has turned out VERY useful, to jump to the beach in, or lounge around the house or the pool or to go to the shops. Its easy to take on and off which is good for when I try clothes on while out shopping, its also VERY comfortable!
Next: THE BAG!
Also a summer purchase from Mango! I saw it in black on the website in Spring and fell in love with it!
Imagine my delight when I found it in Warsaw for sale ! Then as I spent 3 weeks in Italy I found the pink one! I'm in love with the slight studs and tassels! I HAD to buy both! Im even considering the brown one for winter... if its still available which it probably isn't!

Ps: Thank you SO much for the lovely messages I've received on our facebook fan page, HERE, or of course Twitter us, HERE!
Love

I'm in it. I'm epic. Watch it. That is all - Letter Number 27

Dear Brunette & Readers,

Last night as I was vintage shopping within my madre's closet,
I found her blazers and shoes so inspiring I threw this "Laura
Ashley" blazer over some battered old jeans and places these leather
1950's London type shoes onto my feet and took my sister's dog
[Kaya] with me to take some photos on the old railway road
behind my house. She was kind enough to carry my blazer for
a while before throwing it onto the ground --'
So as I have no photographer, I had to try and take all these by myself
by using wood, trees and metals to be my tripods.. (Not easy...)  Anyway
I don't think they turned out so bad no... ? ;) Got loads more winter
blazers, jackets and shoes to show you thanks to the madre ;)
And as I heard in the french radio its D-8 until the french students
take up school again, I only start on the 8th so I still have time, but
I'm SO excited to be moving to oxford :D I've already imagined a
thousand different posts... Still I really wish this summer would
never end .... =( As most of you...

Love
